LA NOIRE...THE GAME?

LA Noire Screenshot 3

I came across a commercial advertising a video game called LA Noire, which is supposed to be set in 1947. LA Noire is a video game from the Rockstar Games company. The goal of this game is to venture around the streets of Los Angeles solving crimes with the LAPD.

Even though this game hasn't come out yet, I think that the people at Rockstar are advertising and marketing this game really well. Personally, I think that Rockstar is taking a huge risk by coming out with a game that deals with a lot of role playing instead of fast paced action games. However, it's a great idea because this is a game that stands out from all the others. I'm not exactly sure who would buy and play this game since most gamers are into virtual fighting games, sports games, as well as war games. I guess the people who enjoy the Sims, Grand Theft Auto, and 007 will appreciate it.

The idea of setting this game in 1947 Los Angeles is great. However, people are into familiarity as well as the fast pace growth of technology. I'm not too sure who would appreciate the art and history of Los Angeles when playing this game.

Finally, I think it would be fun to play this game. Even though it is more like a suspenseful game that aims to have players solve mysteries and crime, I think that it would be fun to get a fictional glimpse of what it looked like in 1947...even if it has to be an imaginary trip through the game. If you have the chance, watch the commercial. Isn't it just like the movie we watched in class?
